Michael Garruto

Vice President, Trading

Mike joined AEGIS in November 2020 courtesy of the Nexidus Commodities acquisition.  He brings fifteen years of experience in risk management and trading in base metals, energy, and interest rates from both a corporate and banking perspective.

Prior to his current role, Mike led Arconic’s global commodity risk management and trading organization with a focus on identifying and minimizing the company’s multi-billion dollar aluminum price exposure. He was also responsible for the planning and startup of a standalone trading desk to facilitate the Alcoa and Arconic split.

Over the years, Mike has developed a keen insight into commercial drivers of price risk.  Much of this know-how was attained as an interest rate derivatives trader at KeyBank and as head of North America commodity risk management at Aleris.

Mike holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University, an MS in Management from Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MS in Financial Engineering from Kent State University.    He has earned Series 3 and Series 30 certifications from the National Futures Association and is a retired Professional Engineer.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys running, concerts, photography, and the Florida sunshine.  He is a life-long New York Mets fan patiently waiting for that next World Series championship.   He and his wife Loren have two adult children who are now embarking on their own careers in finance and engineering.
